On Tuesday, May 19th, at 6:30 pm, Rockport Middle High School seniors will showcase their musical and artistic talents at the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport. The event will feature film and photography presentations, as well as music performed by RMHS seniors and their classmates. The show is free and open to the public.
This group of senior musicians has organized a wide variety of performances, including instrumental jazz, string quartets, folk, and soul. The concert will also feature many underclassmen and guests, highlighting the broader community that has shaped the musical experiences of the class of 2026. The seniors performing at this year’s showcase are: Beckett Burchard, Lily Cunha, Mariana DeBenedictis, Sally Elinskas, Sam Kesterson, Henry Park, Timothy Patrick, Mari Penaloza, Winston Rich, and Wyatt Wilkinson.
The seniors are thankful for the guidance of Mr. Cohen, Mr. LaRue, and Mr. Smoker. They would also like to thank Rockport Music for the many musical opportunities throughout their years at RMHS. Rockport Music supports RMHS in many ways, including holding chamber and jazz concerts, National Honor Society Inductions, and the showcase. For many of the seniors, this will be their final time performing at the Shalin Liu Performance Center, where some have played annual jazz and chamber concerts since 6th grade.
What is sure to be an exciting night of music will culminate with a final performance of Stand By Me featuring all seniors involved in the show. Arranged by Mari Penaloza to highlight the various instrumentation and talents of the group, it will also be played at the upcoming RMHS graduation ceremony.
